Conflict Resolution

Always remember that your present situation is not your final destination. The best is yet to come.

Of course, we would prefer to all get along great. But in a community the size of our little Village we can expect some conflicts arise. Here are some suggested steps for dealing with conflict with fellow community members at Village by Main:

  1. Talk it out directly. In almost every case, neither side has any interest in hurting, or even inconveniencing others. A simple conversation with a request for them to consider how you are being impacted — that’s almost always enough to resolve an issue.
  2. Request assistance from the Property Manager. Conflict management is a key part of the roles a Property Manager fulfils in a community. They will do what they can to help the issue be resolved — including having separate, and impartial conversations with all parties involved. The PM works closely with the Board of Directors, and will bring them into the conversation should the need arise, or if requested to.
  3. Condo Authority of Ontario. If no satisfaction can be found with the previous steps, the CAO has a deliberate and effective conflict resolution process, specifically for handling issues between Condo Corporations (and their Boards) and owners.
